MultiMax

MultiMax has been formulated to have a very strong effect against spoilage bacteria and especially those which develop in the lower dry matter range. Containing sodium nitrite, the most potent inhibitor of undesirable clostridia, and sodium formate which converts to formic acid in the clamp. This preservative-based additive is the only silage additive we know of that has been tested with heavy levels of soil and clostridial contamination. It has proven, even in that situation, to achieve a desirable fermentation, producing high levels of lactic acid with no presence of butyric acid or other unwanted end-products of fermentation and minimal DM loss.

Many farmers sticking to a strict multi-cut regime are forced to take silage in less than ideal weather conditions where soil contamination is likely. More frequent harvesting also increases the likelihood of contamination with slurry-born bacteria. MultiMax is ideal for those situations and also for more diverse (multi-species) grass leys where uneven wilting especially of broadleaf species may occur, and protein rich swards with high buffering capacity.

It should not be used on wholecrop cereals or maize, or in situations where aerobic stability at feedout is a likely problem. In such situations we would recommend Safesil Pro.
