Activator + CA

Homo-fermenting silage additives can improve the fermentation of silage by dominating the microbial population of the forage. This helps to lower the pH of the silage quickly, ensuring better retention of true protein and a more palatable feed with higher intake potential than untreated silage.

Combining the Activator + with a specific citrate prevents heating and mould at feedout, which is often associated with higher dry matter forages.

This combination product ferments the citrate to diacetyl to achieve better aerobic stability. Unlike hetero-fermenting inoculants promoted by others, it does so without the inescapable fermentation dry matter losses which occur when sugar or lactic acid is converted to acetic acid or reduced intakes associated with very high acetic acid levels.

The application rate for Activator + CA is recommended as follows:

For forage: 4 x 100g Activator + with 25l drum 50% CA treats 100 tonnes @ 2 litres per tonne
For crimp: 4 x 100g Activator + with 25l drum 50% CA treats 50 tonnes @ 4 litres per tonne
