The story so far

Since 1982, Kelvin Cave Ltd., has pioneered and developed proven and affordable products and systems to enable livestock farmers to make more use of their home-grown feeds.

Our success is due to an experienced team, all of them farming and livestock professionals, who share a wealth of knowledge in both practical farming and livestock nutrition. We run a herd of pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle on our farm in the picturesque Somerset Levels, providing a unique advantage over our competitors because we are able to test and observe new products and feeding techniques at first hand in a ‘real farm’ setting.

Through effective preservation of home-grown forages and concentrates we have shown many hundreds of farmers throughout the British Isles that they can safeguard against supply shortages and fluctuating market prices and eliminate or reduce dependency on bought-in feeds. Our preservative products and processing equipment help them to produce feeds with high nutrient value and digestibility that require only easy, low-cost storage. For example, earlier harvesting, crimping and ensiling of cereal crops results in energy and protein concentrates of high nutrient value and digestibility, broadens the window for combining, allowing greater flexibility, best use of manpower and machinery, and more efficient allocation of land.

At Kelvin Cave we have pledged an on-going commitment to developing products and recommended procedures that together contribute to improved livestock health, nutrition and economic performance in an environmentally friendly way.

We market only products and services that are supported by fully validated independent research, and that are reliable and cost-effective for customers seeking sustainable methods of livestock welfare and production.

Flexibility is the key

We also recognise that the capacities and resources that farmers have for producing home-grown feed varies greatly. In order to provide the very best service we have put together not only a comprehensive range of additives and preservatives for home-grown forages and concentrates, but state-of-the-art products for every clamping and bagging requirement together with a range of machinery for crimping, rolling, bruising and compacting.

From the supply of individual products right through to bespoke packages of machinery and consumables to help farmers on the road to self-sufficiency in feed processing, Kelvin Cave offers unrivalled choice and unbeatable service.
