ProFlake NC: Getting the best from very dry cereals and pulses
- A hot, dry summer has left much of the UK’s barley far drier than normal.
- Abnormally dry grain is harder to process, dusty and less palatable.
- This can result in reduced intakes, respiratory issues and acidosis.
- Dry, dusty grain also creates an unpleasant working environment.
Now grain can be tempered with ProFlake NC, a unique blend of:
- non-corrosive propionic acid
- glycerol to soften the seed coat
- surfactants to ensure the grain absorbs the liquid
ProFlake NC is used with a known volume of water 12-18 hrs before rolling.
-
The resulting grains are plumper, softer, easier to roll and more palatable.
-
Dust is virtually eliminated, energy levels are higher and intakes increase.
-
Grain will remain stable for up to 12 weeks at up to 22% moisture.
- The process is widely used for very dry grain in Australia and New Zealand.

Removing any one of the key building blocks makes the tower less stable. Removing them all means your profits will tumble, just like the tower.
